Courses for College Lecturers

Introduction of sophisticated machineries and equipment on board the fishing fleet of the country has witnessed technological revolution in the fisheries sector.

The diversification of the fishing methods has also contributed for the development of the marine fisheries in the country. These developments have paved way for the introduction of various under Graduates and Post Graduates courses in Fisheries Science, which are at present conducted by the Colleges and Universities all over the country. Even the Science stream of the under Graduate courses is also having specialisation in the fishery disciplines. The teaching faculties of these Colleges and Universities are well oriented and equipped for teaching these subjects. However, it is a pre-requisite to update their knowledge with the current developments. An exposure to the practical aspects will also enable them to handle their subjects with more confidence.

CIFNET from this academic year has introduced integrated courses covering the sphere of Fishery Technology, Nautical Science and Engineering Technology for the faculty members which will serve as Refresher courses to update the knowledge of the faculties. These refresher courses are designed at two levels one at the introductory level and another advanced.

CIFNET, as you are aware, is the nodal organisation meeting the training demands on various programmes for the fishing industry. An integrated course covering the sphere of fishery technology, nautical science and engineering technology for the faculty members of the Colleges and Universities was conducted as a part of the various training modules during June and July of this year for a period of six weeks.
